I just finished the last series of The Wire and this quote from the last episode has me wondering how much of the show was inspired by The Castle, and who - if anyone - parallels K?
In the end, it’s more than the well researched stories of bureaucracy that made it so intriguing. It’s more than the insightful illustrations of the inner workings of organisations - from drug gangs to political parties - that leave the most lasting impression.
It is the beautiful depiction of a struggling city and the grinding nature of this struggle - an never ending zero sum game.
